Our recap of Confex 2022

From 8-9 March, International Confex 2022 welcomed thousands of event professionals to ExCel London for two jam-packed days of networking and knowledge sharing. 

Shocklogic has been exhibiting at Confex for over a decade. This year, we had nine team members representing Shocklogic at our stand over the two-day period, including Maggie, Johnny, John, Pritesh, Gianna, Marisabel, Avvan, Karina, and Deepak

Day 1 Recap

John kicked off the event with one of the day’s first sessions, titled ‘The influence of technology in association management in a post-pandemic world’. It was at the ABPCO Association Event Forum and discussed some of the technology solutions available to help associations make lives easier while also strengthening them for the uncertain future. A big thanks to Heather Lishman for including us in this wonderful programme. We have been proud ABPCO members for many years now.

Back at the stand, our team enjoyed welcoming visitors for both scheduled meetings and impromptu chats. Our colourful prize wheel really got a workout, with some lucky winners taking home a bluetooth speaker.

The team finished off the day with the exhibitor drinks gathering on the show floor, and then moved on to the Fox pub.

Day 2 Recap

John’s second session, titled ‘Working from home or returning to the office: Wellbeing techniques for our own sanity’, was held right at the entrance in the People & Culture Hub. This was a wonderful, intimate space that allowed John to really connect with his audience as he discussed his favourite ways to incorporate wellness strategies at both a personal and professional level. He also received a lovely shoutout about this presentation from Catherine Owen, The British Academy’s Head of Venue Sales & Marketing: 

‘John Martinez at Shocklogic your talk absolutely kickstarted my morning today.’

Over on the tech stage, in his session titled ‘Level up your next virtual event with the power of gamification’, Johnny discussed the benefits of using gamification to enhance your event and provided some tools to get started.

Saving the best for last, Johnny’s second presentation took the show’s final slot at the Marketing Theatre. In ‘Event marketing and social media personalisation: The importance of the conversation’, he gave advice for taking advantage of the latest social media marketing trends to increase brand awareness and generate leads.

We had so much to share during our two days at Confex that Shocklogic topped the list of most active twitter accounts during the show, and John’s account was ranked 5th. 

It was great to be back on a busy show floor with that special Confex buzz in the air. After a difficult 2 years, it feels like the events industry is back on track.
